SugarLily counseling serves diverse issues including trauma, anger, grief, developmental issues, transitional issues, drug and alcohol issues, eating disorders, self-harm, and emotional and behavioral issues.  The main counseling practice is located in Aurora (near Parker Road and Quincy) at 13791 E. Rice Place. SugarLily has a satellite office in Littleton and Parker.  The office in Parker serves the Equine Assisted counseling sessions.

Michon Lubbers is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Colorado.  She received a Master of Arts in Counseling from Denver Seminary.  Her approach to counseling is interactive and experiential.  She uses horses, art, play, education, talk, the client’s belief systems, and listening, to meet the needs of the client.  Michon has a desire and heart to see individuals grow and heal, and families to be restored through healthy communication, healthy boundaries, and healthy relationships. 

Michon has been trained in: Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cycle of Abuse, Resistant Clients, Bipolar Disorder, Play Therapy, and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.  She enjoys working with adolescent and adult individuals dealing with mood and behavioral dysregulation, relational issues, and transitional issues.  She works as a team with the physician, psychiatrist, psychologist, other counselors, and probation officers. 

Michon’s passion is to teach skills to regulate emotions and to improve communication.  Her style is direct and seeks to move the client toward their goals as soon as they are ready.  Michon’s experience in coaching brings the concept and expertise of training families and groups to work together efficiently as each person’s strengths are encouraged and enhanced.

Michon is committed to achieving healing, self-worth, self-confidence, emotional stability, and a more balanced life for all clients.  She is a Christian who partners with people of all faiths to obtain their goals.  Her desire is for all to come to see themselves through the Truth rather than to judge themselves through what they have experienced or done. 

Michon grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and has lived in many areas of the country.  She received her undergraduate degree from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts later moving into the Boston area.  She worked in Winter Park, Florida; Alamosa, Parachute, and Denver, Colorado; and Rocky Mount, North Carolina.  She was an NCAA collegiate volleyball coach for seven years after receiving her Master of Arts in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Adams State.  She loves traveling, the outdoors, sports, nature, and horses.  She was an avid doubles Beach Volleyball player from 1991 to 1996.
